While I have been unable to drive I have been catching a bus to work in Mt Barker. The service that I have been getting from the bus driver has been great. They always make you feel welcome and everytime you catch the bus they seem to be very happy. Extremely happy with the service.

Link SA does a Murray Bridge to Adelaide service- the drivers are very skilled and it is a pleasant bus ride on the x press busses, a little rowdier when the first part is non Link SA ie metro bus for the Mt Barker to Adelaide Leg. You do get joggled fairly well travelling in those busses thru the hills with no seat belt. The Dial a ride service in Murray Bridge I have had two drivers, Lee and Bruno. They both do a good job, in my experience. Unfortunately the bus is very cramped, a mini bus with single row of seats and a double row on the other side. It would be better if there was more leg room, as most passengers are elderly or disabled and there is very little room to negotiate. Also the stairs are narrow and very steep. A flatter level bus would be better considering the average clientelle. The bus runs every hour from nine till 4 with a huge gap midday- no 12 oclock bus... if you miss the 11 bus you have to wait till 1pm for the next one. ( I discovered this on a day of 40 degree heat several years ago...) The drivers are very helpful putting shopping in the back. Unlike metro Adelaide area the cheapest ticket is $2.90- one way. This means it costs mum and three kids $24 to go to the shop for milk or bread- not realistic at all, although this is not the fault of Link SA but the government for refusing to subsidise transport in the country. Because the seats are so extremely close together, when a whiffier client boards the bus every client gets to share in the malodour. Since the bus can take up to 40 minutes to arrive at your destination you get to enjoy that odour for a VERY LONG TIME... and opening the bus windows is not encouraged... For the drivers I would have given full marks, but the bus itself is really not good for seating, and also for boarding for disabled or elderly people.
